Celebrate!

We passed our Joint Commission survey! Many thanks to our entire team for making it happen!

While it is a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to have the survey behind us, we are very fortunate to have had a group of surveyors that actually lived up to what they are supposed to do - to educate, consult, and help us to improve our ability to provide the very best quality and safety to our patients. Many thanks to them for making what was already a very stressful week an enjoyable one!

All along the surveyors commented on how friendly, open, and approachable our team members were - a true testament to our caring culture! I thank you all for welcoming them and helping them to see what makes us the best hospital in America!

I hope you all take a moment to celebrate this moment with your team! Please share your experiences with me on how YOU thought the survey went, I’d like to know what you thought about it!

There is no "I" in "Team"

With operation "snow" in full force, our team springs to action to ensure that our hospital is staffed, and our patients and team members are cared for. I am very thankful for having such a dedicated team of people to work with. So many people worked late, stayed overnight, helped drive and pick-up team members, pick up supplies, and other things to survive winter's first big storm. It is a true round-the-clock effort to logistically keep the hospital running when most of the rest of the city is shut-down. Many thanks to all who helped give their all to ensure our patients the best care possible during this difficult time!

I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV...

Every once in a while I enjoy putting on my old scrubs and making rounds through the hospital. As a former clinician and EMT, I sometimes miss being on the front lines. Special thanks to the nurses on 8 H&L for the stethoscope, they said it helps to complete the outfit!

A New Year, A New Beginning

This year I've decided to take on a new habit - blogging! A blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a web site , usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video.

As we are always looking for new ways to positively interact with our team members and community, I thought this would be a new way to connect to our team and give everyone the chance to provide their own comments about their views on health care, work, and life!

For now, this is an experiment with a new way of communication. Based upon your reactions and interests, I will try to keep these postings interesting and fresh and hope to touch on subjects that we don't usually get to talk about through our usual interactions.

Depending on whats happening, I may write about the hospital, our team, or life in general and I hope you will take a moment to let me know what you think. Thats all for now, I will get this started and we will see where it takes us! Thanks for reading!
